Job Description:

This role supports development of infrastructure for zero-emission vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells. The Hydrogen Product Strategy Analyst position is a cross-product role requiring strong analytical skills. You will support the product strategy team primarily by carrying out financial and technical analyses of new capabilities available in several global regions. Your work will support the development of new products, the strategy to reduce the cost of hydrogen fueling, and the business development team’s ability to sell more and larger deals. The Gas-Phase Thermodynamics role provides key insights for development of infrastructure for zero-emission vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells. The role requires building public and proprietary thermodynamically rigorous fueling models based on validated thermal heat transfer data. The role will also help augment public fueling models and share aspects of these models within academia and governing bodies as necessary. The role will represent Shell and the industry’s interest at meetings related to creation of fueling safety standards and fueling protocols. The STIE will work with Contracts & Procurement, Finance, and Business Opportunity Managers across different countries, programs and cross-functional teams to help build out Shell’s next generation hydrogen technical offerings worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Using Systems Thinking/Systems Engineering principles & Lean ways of working with a focus on:
    • Transform customer requirements, use cases, and functional requirements into actionable test plans
    • Manage subsystem interface and systems integration verification testing
    • Create engineering development test plans, factory acceptance test plans, and site commissioning tests
    • Develop reliability focused tests based on environmental factors, expected product life, and equipment duty cycles (traditional cyclic fatigue tests, HALT, HASS, etc.)
    • Perform JSAs, HAZIDs, Safety Risk Assessments, readiness reviews, and final walk throughs on newly developed tests
    • Lead, coordinate, or monitor the facility buildouts at supplier facilities to accommodate newly designed tests
    • Work with other parties in Shell and 3rd party vendors to scope, coordinate, and implement test plans
    • Conduct critical maintainability and testability demonstrations to confirm products can achieve contractual Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety requirements
  • Manage external relationships with national labs, government initiatives and vendors.
  • Constantly solicit the voice of the customer, and reflect in products
  • Use analytics to make data-driven product and system design decisions

This position offers the opportunity to work with a team developing an integrated engineering environment. As a software/data science intern, you will work on the heart of web-based and IoT products that are critical to transforming Shell’s business operations around the world.  You may work on anything from data science / optimization problems to mobile applications that help record field data and report it back to a central service that can later be processed using machine learning.

The intern will split their time between the following tasks:

1) Build up the team’s data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities

2) Collaborate with our product team to perform quantitative analyses, develop interfaces and clarify requirements

3) Work with the Azure and AWS products that run our system

4) Write support software to test and verify the system

5) Helping to build a software process which will include a code review platform as well as a continuous integration server for validation
